Our knockdown and rebuild process

Step 1: Guide you through demolition

You have the flexibility to work directly with a demolition contractor to save costs, or we can manage it for you—whichever suits you best. Either way, we’re committed to guiding you through the process and ensuring a smooth transition.

Step 2: Prepare for the build

Before demolition, you’ll move out of your home, and we’ll help coordinate the next steps. This marks the exciting start of transforming your block into a brand-new home.

Step 3: Disconnect services

You will need to contact your gas, electricity and water providers to arrange disconnection, and to have final meter readings after you move out and before demolition. Remember to contact your internet and phone service providers too, as cables may be affected.

Step 4: Pest control compliance

Your contractor will carry out mandatory pest treatment before demolition, ensuring the site is safe and meets all council requirements.

Step 5: Protect your essential services

We cut and seal the sewer lines and restore water and phone services, ensuring minimal disruption as we prepare for your new home’s construction.

Step 6: Secure demolition permits

Your demolition contractor submits the necessary paperwork, and we assist as needed to streamline approvals and keep your project on track.

Step 7: Clearing the site

With permits approved, demolition takes place, paving the way for the construction of your new home.

Step 8: Final site inspection

Post-demolition, we conduct a thorough check to ensure the site is clear and all services are in place, so construction can begin without delay.

Step 9: Build your dream home

With your block prepared, we begin construction, crafting a home designed to maximise your land and suit your lifestyle. From concept to completion, we manage every step with care and precision.

FAQs

What is the advantage of a knockdown and rebuild over renovating?

A knockdown and rebuild offers a fresh start, allowing you to design your dream home from the ground up, without the limitations of an older structure. It can often be more cost-effective and provide a better return on investment compared to a renovation.

Can I stay in my home during the knockdown and rebuild process?

In most cases, staying on-site isn’t possible during demolition.

How long does the knockdown and rebuild process take?

The timeline will vary based on the size and complexity of the job. It will depend on your existing home, your block and its condition, any council regulations, and the new home to be built. Your Stannard Homes consultant will be able to give you timeframes based on your situation.

Do I need to arrange demolition myself?

You have the option to manage the demolition independently, or Stannard Homes can coordinate everything for you. Either way, we’ll be there to guide you through the process to make sure it aligns with your budget and needs.

What happens if there are unexpected delays?

At Stannard Homes, we work to avoid delays by carefully planning every stage of the project. If unforeseen issues arise, we’ll communicate with you promptly and find solutions to keep things on track.
